Why doesn't Tape Mountain utilize "catalog numbers"?
Because that's like giving your children numbers. We know and love
each of our releases intimately and refer to them by name, not by impersonal
and degrading numbers. Would you like it if I always referred to you
by your Social Security Number? This is not a Zamyatin novel, this
is love.
Catalog numbers are best left for people who are releasing a trillion releases
a year, or for trust-fund labels. Releasing a gazillion releases every
year is like polyamory and we don't do that. And we do not have a trust
fund, for that matter.
